Mounir Bechara

Principal Psychologist

Mounir Bechara is the Principal Psychologist and Co Director of Guiding Light Psychology. He is a registered psychologist, Board Approved Supervisor, and SIRA approved practitioner with experience supporting adolescents, adults, couples, and families across a wide range of mental health concerns.

Mounir has a particular interest in trauma, anxiety, emotional regulation, relationship difficulties, and complex presentations involving longstanding emotional and behavioural patterns. He is passionate about helping people develop greater self awareness, build resilience, strengthen their relationships, and create meaningful, lasting change.

His therapeutic approach is warm, genuine, and collaborative, while remaining structured, practical, and evidence based. Mounir believes that effective therapy should not only help people feel understood, but also equip them with the insight, skills, and confidence to navigate life’s challenges independently.

He draws on a range of evidence based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, EMDR, Motivational Interviewing, and Gottman Method Couples Therapy. Every treatment plan is tailored to the individual, recognising that no two people or experiences are the same.

Mounir is of Lebanese background and is fluent in both English and Arabic. As a Maronite Catholic, he also welcomes the integration of faith and spirituality into therapy when requested by the client and clinically appropriate, while remaining respectful of all cultures, beliefs, and backgrounds.
