Maria Kim

Provisional Psychologist

Maria is a bubbly and empathetic provisional psychologist who is passionate about helping her clients discover more about themselves, reach their full potential, and champion them to overcome their challenges. She is committed to providing the best psychological services tailored to the individual, and endeavours to promote psychological practice that is culturally sensitive. Maria’s goal for each client is to create a safe space to be acknowledged and heard, so that they can thrive and develop new skills confidently and comfortably.

Currently, Maria is trained in various evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Family-Based Therapy (FBT). She is continuing to expand her skillsets to provide the best evidence-based treatment suited for everyone’s unique needs.

Maria also has extensive experience in psychological assessments and working across age groups. She is also a crisis supporter and was previously an academic marker for undergraduate psychology students at various universities. Maria has primarily worked with children and their families, but also has experience working with adults with various presentations including anxiety and mood disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and obsessive-compulsive and related disorders.

Qualifications

Maria has completed a Masters of Professional Psychology from the University of New England with a Distinction average.

She has also completed a Bachelors of Science (Psychology) at the UNSW and graduated with First Class for her Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours) at the Australian College of Applied Psychology (ACAP). Maria is a qualified group facilitator for the PEERS® (Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills) and SAS (Secret Agent Society) social skills group programs.
